About me
The sound of instrumental duo Nigel Bryant and Matt Donovan has been described as “pastoral minimalism”, a fusion of guitar filigree, synthesizer and percussion. The two have been collaborating musically since meeting in the late 1990s. Begun as a solo project by Nigel in 2005, Matt’s multi-instrumental talents were soon added to transform The Untied Knot into a fully functioning live unit with a preference for less conventional, more intimate venues. In April 2012 they were introduced at the Purcell Room in London’s Southbank Centre by Max Reinhardt of BBC Radio 3’s “Late Junction” as part of an audio-visual collaboration between Solus3 and pinhole photographer Jan Dunning. The album "Sketches For A Lost Summer" was released in 2009 to a warm reception with airplay on BBC6 Music in the UK, WFMU in USA and Canal Extremadura in Spain as well as receiving a very positive review from independent retailer Norman Records of Leeds. Their sound continues to evolve subliminally with a second album “Rien n’existe” close to completion for release in summer 2012.
