About me
Ola, I'm MoFrancesco, i'm a bassist/double bassist/songwriter. I come from Italy, and live in Lisbon, i play with Terrakota, Tora Tora, Anonima Nuvolari, Groove Quartet, Galaxy 5, Raimund Engelhardt, Trioing, Savio Araujo Quartet, Andre Cabaço..... I was born in Italy, studied at the Scuola Civica di Milano Violoncello, after two years i've changed to Double Bass. Graduate in Literature and Languages in the Universita Statale Di Milano in 2001. I've studied Double Bass in Cuba, Havana, in Ena (Escuela Nacional de Artes), and with various cubans players, latin jazz, cuban music and folklore (1995 and 2002). Live in Lisbon since 1996, where i've studied with Massimo Cavalli, at Barreiro school of jazz with Afonso Pais, and where attended workshop's with Carlos Bica, Frank Mobus, Erik Shaffen, Marc Miralt, Carlos Barreto. I've recorded two albums with Terrakota, second one "Humus Sapiens" in Senegal at Xippie's studios of Dakar (Youssou N'dour), an album with Ne Ladeiras (in collaborations with Tito Paris, Ney Matogrosso, Chico Cesar, Pedro Joya), an album live with Pilar in november 2005 (in colaboration with Thio M'Baye of Super Diamono-Senegal, Jorge Palma, Romi Anauel), an album with Tora Tora in 2006, an album with Fogue d'Mar in 2002, and many collaborations with other bands (Nigga Poison, Savio Araujo, Maria Viana, Sergio Figueiras, Gustavo Akino, Lundum Ensemble, Maria Alice, Voginha, Anonima Nuvolari, Miguel Martins, Ruben Alves, Rui Gonçalves, Klaus Nymark, Lars Arens, Johannes Krieger, Miguel Gonçalves, Jorge Reis, Gutto Luceno, Ze Soares, Loopless, Kika Santos, Mike Trovoada, Kimi Djabate, PreCyz (Cynthia), Kalaf, SAMP, Phill Mendrix, Raimund Enghelhardt, Oquestrada, Davide Rossi, R-esistenza etc..). I've played in many festivals in Europe, Asia, Africa in the last years, as a performer i've opened for great musicians like Alpha Blondy, Lee Perry, Mad Professor, Sizzla, Gladiators, Gentleman, Macaco, Cheb Balowsky, Che Sudaka, Sargento Garcia, Yuri Buenaventura, Los De Abajo, Zap Mama, Angelique Kidjo, Silverio Pessoa, Trio Mocoto, Daniele Sepe, Tinariween, Timbila Muzimba, Dj Dolores, and played at the same festival with many others... Today i'm preparing the third album of Terrakota, the second album of Tora Tora, and my own solo album....!!
